I’m in the (finger-cramping) process of addressing our 200
Christmas letters the old-fashioned way, by hand. Each name calls forth faces and shared moments that
collectively define a lattice of human experience. All of these individuals’ lives
overlap with my own in various ways, weaving a network. Each envelope represents an opportunity
to remember and appreciate this, and to reconnect with those I haven’t had
opportunity to spend time with recently.
It’s a matrix, a structure supporting the development of all
involved. As I write these names in a cumulative roll call, I realize how
comparatively limited my life might have been without this grid. I am acutely thankful for it.

Bless your heart (AND your fingers)! How wonderful that you honor those who have contributed to your life - past and present - with this gift of your time and attention.
