During the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, God manifested as
a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, leading the way “so
they could travel by day or night.”*
This evening I happened to look out the picture window at
just the right time as a pillar of fire reached into the sky above the
sunset. It lasted only a few
minutes, but caused me to think of the myriad of ways God manifests Himself to
us everyday; how He is with us (Emmanuel) in our own desert experiences.
*”By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to
guide them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light,
so that they could ravel by day or night.
Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left
its place in front of the people.”
Exodus 13:21,22
