Wind thrashes, waves crash, and rain hurries down the windows in rivers that branch into endless tributaries. It is dark outside, and the chimney howls with a ghostly, mournful wail that refuses to be stifled.
Inside two candles burn - slowly, calmly, their flames hardly flickering. Piano music beckons me to follow a pied piper to some inner place of calm where the outside storm seems to cease.
