Textures

Artistic textures define much of earthly life, although they sometimes seem to flatten when our perceptions narrow and become single-dimensional.

I find it helpful to be on the lookout for inspiring, dynamic textures: visual, circumstantial, relational, soulful.  Each one is an invitation to something very real that has not been distorted by my own preoccupations, and is often as close as my very fingertips - or even underfoot.
