Zzzzzz….kids asleep! Campfire on deck. Five adults. Laughter. Relaxed. Peaceful. Stars peek. Sharing memories…discovery…inspiration…storytelling…WOW. Between sheets: 12:30 a.m.
Today:
Kids chirping. Baby girl smiles. Blue skies. Sunshine! Bleary eyes. Gear up! Breakfast. “I wike duh twees!” (Clara, age 3: “I like the trees” with head back, staring euphorically at wind-tossed oak leaves while eating scrambled eggs on the deck.) Sandbox trio. Four MORE family members arrive! Swimming. Lunch. Swimming. Ice cream drumsticks. Swimming. Waves. Babies squawking. Aquatic weeds. Tube plug: lost! Tube plug: found! First tube rides of the year!! Hot tub. Beach towels, swim suits drying. Soggy water shoes. Field trip to the property. Leftovers! Picnic table! Wind-chopped lake. Sunshine splattered through trees. Families gather stuff. Pack up cars. Whhhhish – they’re off! Good-bye to Memorial Day weekend!
