Staring Down the Contrast

Two kayaks slither like sleek swans
In their element
Smooth, quiet…paddles stirring
Yet not disturbing

Integrated and harmonious
Synchronized flotation
Free, easy, relaxed
Nothing taxed

Then…

A wave runner cuts a swath
Bee-buzz humming
Swarming, frenzied, spunky
And drunk

It surgically slices the lake
In circular pieces
With waves making spaghetti trails
As big as whales

The contrast glares
And draws my stares.
