Stuck

Time.  It marches along, minutes all lined up in sync like ranks of soldiers: one-two-one-two-one-two.  Predictable.  In step.  Until one falls out of rank, creating a domino effect.

This is what can happen with unexpected health breakdowns. One stumble, and ka-pow.  A pile-up.

Such is the case here this evening.  We’re anticipating a call to the cardiologist in the morning regarding an unexplained blood vessel rupture in my husband’s ankle.  It is painful and debilitating.  The cause is unknown, although his heart-related drug therapies are suspect.  Because there have been serious heart-related tumbles in recent months, concern is heightened.

The clock says 8:30 p.m., but I thought it was more like 6:30.  This is what happens when uncertainty cuts to the quick: time stands still.
