After the Visit

My two boys grown into men
Visited our house tonight,
Turning frisky and boyish
While a grandson under their wings
Grew mannish in his youthful way.

I replay our evening together,
The assorted dinner buffet,
The card game afterwards
With whooping and whistling
Whenever the trump card won.

It was an honor to be Queen
Surrounded by a familial court
Of relaxed male camaraderie,
One celebrating comfort and joy
In the presence of sons at play.
