Invasion!

It’s the time of year again to be invaded…by those non-native, creepy-crawly-ladybuggy BUGS. They’re finding us better prepared than usual, however, due to the fact we have NEW WINDOWS with tighter seals. While most of the house is protected, they’ve still found their way inside the dining room where the outside door doesn’t have very good weather-stripping at the bottom. Little stinkers! (That’s quite literal, by the way – they have a really yucky smell.)

Probably a hundred are crawling around the dining room walls this morning, hiding (although we can see them plain enough) in the corners where the ceiling and walls join, and generally skedaddling their prehistoric crunchy-shelled bodies all over the place. This is a small number, by the way. They used to be in EVERY room, and the cumulative count had to be in the thousands.

So anyway, an analogy is brewing. Those hard-shelled buggies that can squeak through teeny cracks remind me of something….hmmmm….maybe thought patterns? OH YEAH. It seems no matter how defensive we are, some arrogant little nasty-intentioned beasties (rebellious thoughts) make their way into our inner sanctum. A human heart is never perfectly free from invasion.

However, it’s also true that the Lord of life is an exterminator, and the only One who knows how to go about cleansing human hearts and souls of such imposters. Praise God for His mercy! The invasion continues, but He is ready and able with His powerful antidote: LOVE.
