Restored

The lake came alive as dusk fell this evening, shimmering with silvery ripples like the ruffled coat of a gray fox.  Its palette flickered wild as I watched, mesmerized.

Elemental.  Energetic. Mysterious.

Then within minutes its animated, crawling surface transformed into slick glass.  Smoky dimness simultaneously condensed into a blanket of thick, blinding blackness.

The earlier spirited feral waters, now tame and quiet, patiently awaited the promise of dawn: rebirth.  As a few brash stars showed themselves, I smoothed the wrinkles of the day and also waited, restored beside these still waters.
