Big Love

God’s love for us blows our  finite minds.

His love causes us to  EXIST.

We either respond to that love by giving back “our” lives – by responding to Him with love and submitting our inflated egos to Him - or else floundering in circumstantial high seas while struggling to navigate swells of despair and temporary (fleeting) uppers.

Love is our source of significance.

We chase after whatever feels good, but ultimately disappoints; His love calls us back to Himself.

We fail to succeed; His love redeems our failures and restores us in the context of new possibilities.

We get caught up in consumerism; His love provides more than we could dream - a secure haven under His wing.

We grasp for illusions of control; His love controls us with His Spirit.

We want life to be all about us and our plans; His love patiently instructs us that it is actually all about Him and His path for us.

We seek thrills/pleasures/comforts; His love leads us into meaningful adventure.

We choose to be puffed up and self-absorbed; His love inspires us to receive His holy PRESENCE and then pour ourselves out for others.

Too often we who are sold out to Him (and His love) STILL send wrong messages – we spout off rules and necessities, live out of a program-and-committee mindset,  and become rote in our approach to faith.  We may appear segmented, self-centered, and autonomous.

However, HE is love.  He is hope.  He is redemption.  He forgives; He gives grace.  He restores; He heals.

And we are His.
