The greater outdoors is currently crusted in a glaze of
ice, and our road might as well be a skating rink. It’s a treacherous world out there.
Ice. It happens.
Today our friend Kelly hitched her white mini-horse stallion
to a miniature sleigh that seats only one passenger, and took a spin down our
road. We passed them whizzing along over
the ice with two other mini-horse companions, one black and one buckskin,
trotting alongside. Clippity-clop,
clippity-clippity-clop! I have no idea how they navigated the ice without slipping.
Kelly’s eyes were barely visible between a thick scarf
and wooly hat. She waved cheerily with
her free hand while the other tended the reins. I thought she looked like a
snow princess on her way to an elfish royal ball.
Our encounter only lasted a few seconds, a glimpse into
another world of pure delight bordering on magic.
